There’s always something to do in Houston – whether it’s trying a new restaurant, checking out a new cocktail bar or revisiting Houston’s iconic’s spots, a weekend in Houston is certainly never dull!
I especially love weekends in Houston when I have visitors in town because I get to show them how amazing this city is – while having lots of fun myself!
I recently had 3 friends visiting me and staying at my new house, and we had a blast. If you’re looking how to spend your next weekend in Houston, or if you’re planning an H-town bachelorette party, this itinerary is for you!
Friday
I always like to welcome my guests with food and wine, because that’s how I like to start my vacays! My friends flew in around noon and I had lunch catered by Chi’Lantro BBQ, an award-winning Korean BBQ Inspired restaurant from Austin that just re-launched in Houston! Don’t miss their famous Kimchi Fries – next time I’ll be getting more than one order for the group.

For wine, I needed to have lots of it – this group loves their wine! I ordered a box from Boxt, a woman-owned, Austin-based luxury wine company that delivers the best California wine for every mood!

Once we got all dolled up, we were ready for a bit more wine! I recently joined a private wine club in Houston called Serca Wines – they have some of the best Argentinian wines I’ve ever tired! As part of my membership, I get to host small groups at Serca Wines and gathered a few additional friends to taste lots of wine and eat a bit of cheese while we were at it!

We were soon ready for dinner and I made a reservation at one of my Houston faves: Joey Uptown! Joey is the perfect spot to get the party started for a fun girls weekend – I love it for many reasons:
- While you wait for your table, they serve you a glass of bubbles
- Their spicy passion fruit margs are to die for
- I cannot get enough of their seared salmon sushi roll, we had to order two rounds for the table!
- I dream of their lobster & shrimp pasta
- They’ve got amazing desserts
- There’s always a fun lively vibe with great music
After lots of food and drinks, we decided to come back to my house and gather around the fire pit. We called it an early night because #ThisIsThirty.

Saturday
The morning was filled with coffee and all the skincare products we could find to remove the puffiness from the night before, but around noon we were ready for food and adventure!
I took them to one of my favorite areas in the Heights, M-K-T Heights and we dined at Da Gama, they are an Indian-Portuguese fusion restaurant and one of my go-tos! After lunch we shopped around M-K-T, they have some of the cutest boutiques in town!

We then visited two fabulous patio bars: Patterson Park and Wicklow Heights. Although it’s getting warmer in Houston, I love a sunny day on a dog-friendly patio bar. #ProTip: parking is a bit tricky at both of these spots as they are super popular on the weekends, and you also shouldn’t be drinking and driving so I suggest you take an Alto (it’s a ride sharing app that’s much better than any of the others you’ve tried).

For dinner we decided to go to Arnaldo Richards’ Picos Restaurant, one of the iconic Mexican restaurants in town! Fun fact: dating back to 1989, Picos has been known as “the birthplace of the shaker margarita”. Don’t miss their chile con queso and pollo en mole. They also had soooo many margarita options and flavors, it was hard to choose!
Our big meal made us sleepy and once again we called it an early night so we could be ready for a Sunday Funday!
Sunday
I don’t know about y’all but after a couple of days of eating out and drinking a lot, my body starts craving healthy eats. We had brunch at Local Foods so we could get some greens in our body!

We then spent the day at El Segundo Swim Club in East Downtown. El Segundo Swim Club opened last year but I didn’t visit them until now and I cannot wait to go back! Reasons why you’ll love this awesome pool in Houston,
- Their DJ is SO GOOD!
- The cocktails were delicious, don’t miss their Paloma Pitcher
- Tickets are $35 with platform fees and include entrance to the pool, towels and sunscreen
- They have nice and very clean bathrooms
- The vibe is just amazing

#BabesTip: End your sunny pool day with some Van Leeuwen Ice Cream! Their Montrose location is my favorite so far.
Stay tuned for more H-Town adventures coming soon to the blog!
xo,
Ale
