Drink More, Bloat Less: New Orleans’ Healthiest Cocktails🍹

Drinking cocktails at all of the fab bars in Nola is one of our all time favorite hobbies. While we have been trying to incorporate health into our lifestyle more this year, by no means does that mean we will stop eating and drinking all the things. What does help is having an understanding of what healthier options are available when we go out to our favorite restaurants and bars for cocktails – which is inevitable!

We reached out to some of our favorites in town and asked them to share the healthiest cocktail on their menu and what was in it. So what makes a cocktail healthy(er)? Think low on sugar, low on calories, and includes ingredients that are good for you. We have great news: you can still get a delicious cocktail, and feel a little less guilty (but, just as buzzed) after!

The Lori Tipton Cocktail

Ace Hotel New Orleans – 600 Carondelet Street

The Lori Tipton cocktail at The Ace is refreshing, and only about 190 calories. Made with gin, cucumber syrup, St. Germain, lime juice and club soda, the cocktail is most definitely not lacking in flavor or the ingredients to give you a healthy buzz 😉

Give Me Liberty…

Monkey Board – The Troubadour, 1111 Gravier Street

Not only does this pink cocktail make a beautiful photo #fortheinsta, but it truly lives up to its name of making you feel liberated. The ingredients include tequila, campari, lime juice, pink grapefruit liquer, and demerara syrup.

Iridescent Gods

SoBou – 310 Chartres Street

This cocktail literally has kombucha in it so we feel like we are becoming healthier while drinking it. The flavors of mezcal, tepache, lime, ginger syrup, pineapple elderflower kombucha and angostura bitters, are unexpected but delicious together.

Saltwater

DTB – 8201 Oak St #1

OMG – this is by far our favorite cocktail in all of the land at the moment, so we could not be more excited to find out it’s the lightest on the menu! Cocktail Director Lu Brow is the mastermind behind the Saltwater made with cathead vodka, pamplemousse, basil, pink peppercorn and himalayan salt.

Freudian Slip

Café Adelaide – 300 Poydras Street

This Eat Fit Nola approved cocktail at one of our favorite downtown bars, literally makes you feel like you are drinking a green juice. It’s made with basil hayden bourbon, herbsaint, fresh pear, honey, basil & lemon.

All Shook Up

The Bombay Club – 830 Conti Street

With Ketel One Vodka, fresh berries and lemon, the simplicity of the all shook up is what makes it so delicious and of course on the lighter side. The fresh berries give it a natural sweetness so it’s not over the top sugary. We could drink this any time of year!

I like to Party Without the Calories

Toups South – 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd

Ok, the name says it all. Made with Cathead vodka, house infused herbs and fruit soda water, this cocktail is like a fancier, tastier vodka soda, for all you basic babes out there.

Ramos Gin Fizz

The Sazerac Bar – 130 Roosevelt Way

This cocktail has lots of history and naturally was born in New Orleans. Ok – so we may be pushing the envelope a little bit here considering the original version is made with heavy cream, but the egg whites have protein, right?!? The Sazerac Bar’s rendition includes Hayman’s Old Tom Gin, simple syrup, orange flower water, lemon juice, lime juice, egg whites, heavy cream and club soda.

Skinny Margarita

Superior Grill – 3636 St Charles Avenue

Sometimes we just need a marg, or several. Lot’s of places offer skinny margs, but the Eat Fit Nola approved one at Superior Grill is one of our absolute favorites. It contains tequila, cointreau, truvia simple syrup, lime juice, orange juice and soda water. It sure doesn’t taste skinny to us!

Time to set a date for cocktails with your babes. Cheers!
