Boudin, Bourbon & Beer is one of the events we look forward to all year. Like most New Orleans events, BBB brings together all the things we love the most: food, music and booze. While every nola fest is special in its own way, there’s something magical about the cool fall night in Champions Square that sets this event apart. November 3rd is right around the corner so we are sharing a preview of everything we are most excited for!
Not to mention: we will be giving away two tickets (plus, some other fun goodies) on our Instagram starting tomorrow (10/9) so be sure to head over and enter to win!
The Celeb Chefs
One of the most impressive parts of BBB is the sheer number of big name chefs and restaurants included in the lineup. We are talking literally every single New Orleans legend new and old, and even a handful of celeb chefs from other cities who come in town just for the event. It’s a foodie babes dream come true! Here’s a handful of some of the big names you can expect to see.
The Big E
Of course, you can’t miss hanging with the man who puts on the whole show. Emeril himself is at the event every year, and is very approachable. We had so much fun meeting the legend last year!
Tory McPhail
Commander’s Palace own, Tory McPhail, has been executive chef at the New Orleans institution since 2002. He is known for embracing Creole traditions while updating classic dishes with fresh, local ingredients. He has been named a James Beard Rising Star Chef and Best Chef South, and made numerous TV appearances, including serving as guest judge on Bravo’s “Top Chef New Orleans.” We hear he will be making a foie gras rice crispy treat this year. Say what?!
Frank Brigtsen
We never miss a chance to see the beloved Chef Frank Brigtsen. He is a New Orleans icon who easily makes the best Creole cuisine you will ever taste, and knows how to put a smile on just about anyone’s face. Of course he’s a James Beard award winner himself among other things, but he’s remained so humble, you’d never know.
Nina Compton
Chef Nina gives women a place in a big way in such a male dominated industry. After falling in love with New Orleans during her time on BRAVO’s Top Chef Season 11, she moved to the city in 2015 to open one of the most unique restaurants in the city, Compere Lapin. Even though she has only been here for a couple of years, Nina and her restaurant have quickly climbed to the top of culinary stardom in Nola, and for good reason.
Jimmy Bannos
New to the lineup this year, we can’t wait to meet chef Jimmy Bannos, who is coming all the way from Chicago. Bannos’ owns several New Orleans-style eateries called Heaven on Seven in Chicago, has written several cookbooks and makes regular appearances on The Today Show!
The Inventive Dishes
Getting to be in the same place with so many of the nation’s leading chefs at once is an experience in itself, but trying dishes from the best of the best all night takes BBB to the next level. Don’t expect to be just sampling traditional boudin. Each chef will be putting their signature spin on the Cajun favorite. This year’s menu has already outdone itself. Here are some of the dishes we can’t wait to feast on.
Maypop
We are obsessing with everything Maypop right now so it’s no surprise that their dish has caught our eye. Michael Gulotta will be preparing a crispy smoked boudin with roasted apple raviolini, colatura, and parmesan. Drool.
Simone’s Market
We haven’t yet been to Simone’s Market, but have heard so many good things about it, so we were excited to see them on the list. Plus, their dish sounds so different from anything else that we are dying to try it: boudin stuffed grape leaves with smoked yogurt.
La Petite Grocery
The Justin Devillier favorite will be serving a pork cheek boudin roll with spicy tomato jam & charred scallion remoulade jam. Yes, please!
Salon by Sucre
Thank goodness someone thought to bring the sweets! Chef Tariq Hanna is making a bacon bread pudding with beer cheddar sauce and a bourbon macaron.
Kenton’s Restaurant
We love Kenton’s just about as much as we love fried chicken. There’s no way there will be going wrong with chef Kyle Knall’s chicken fried boudin with persillade aioli and a bread and butter pickle.
Toups Meatery
THE BOUDIN BURRITO IS BACK. We aren’t proud to say it, but we probs went back for thirds on this one last year. So simple, but so freaking good. Chef Isaac Toups is bringing back the boudin burrito with pedrov, pepper crema, and cilantro, and we couldn’t be happier.
The Music
Live music keeps the party going all night, and will feature Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Langhorne Slim & The Law, Kristin Diable & the City, and The Silverado Pickups this year!
The Bang For Your Buck
There is so much to this event that the price literally feels like a steal. In addition to the dope pics you will get for the insta to make all of your foodie friends jealous, you will be eating like a queen, drinking top shelf spirits, and so much more. The event features unexpected additions like cigar tastings, coffee and dessert to wrap the night up.
Don’t forget to head to our Instagram tomorrow to enter to win two tickets! Hope to see you there babes.
