Moving to a new city, especially a big city like Houston, feels like being on vacation! Why? There’s so much to explore and discover, I feel like I’m finding my new “favorite spots” every single day.

There’s nothing that will make you feel more well-rested than sleeping in a hotel bed, so, a few weekends ago, when I finally started to feel settled in this new town I decided to take a Staycation at the recently renovated Magnolia Hotel in Downtown Houston.
Named the “Best Boutique Hotel in Houston” by the Houston Press, the Magnolia is in the center of Houston’s rich arts and culture scene, city attractions, dining and shopping near the Convention Center and Minute Maid Ballpark #GoAstros!
The Magnolia Hotel was the former home of the Houston Post Dispatch newspaper and later the corporate office for Shell Oil Company, the hotel underwent extensive renovations, and this 1926 historic landmark is now one of Houston’s most distinctive and luxurious properties.

Each of their beautiful 314 rooms and suites feel both modern yet homey, and for the Houston heat, they are well-equipped with a rooftop pool!

They are also pet-friendly in case you’d like to bask in luxury with your furry bff. On this occasion, I left my pups behind. Mom needed a break!
Now let’s talk about the food!
The Magnolia Hotel in Houston is also a great place for events (featuring more than 16,000 square feet of meeting/event space). Therefore, they are staffed with amazing chefs ready to make your dining dreams come true.

One of my favorite parts about the stay was the “nightly temptation” of warm, house-made cookies from 8-10PM, is there any other better way to end your day?
What else is there to do around the Magnolia Hotel?
Oh, so much!
- Catch an Astros game at Minute Maid Park
- See your favorite performer at the Toyota Center
- Visit the Theatre District for a cultural night out
- Enjoy a relaxing walk through Sam Houston Park
- Have drinks at East Downtown’s Truck Yard or 8th Wonder Brewery
Whether you’re a Houstonian looking to do something different this weekend, or a visitor wanting to see the best of HTown. I definitely recommend you stay at the Magnolia Hotel next time you find yourself in Downtown Houston! Plus, they have properties all over the US and we are certain they are as fabulous as this one.

XO,
Alessandra
