5 Easy Summer Reads

Ok, so maybe the summer is coming to an end, but if you’re like us, you are cramming in one last trip to the beach and will need some light reading to take along.

Perhaps it’s the heat that makes all things including reading during the summertime lazy, but let’s be real – easy, fun summertime reading is the best kind.

Here’s a few of our favorites we couldn’t stop turning the pages in this summer. Of course, they will still be just as good come fall!

Behind Closed Doors

Y’all, you actually won’t be able to stop reading this thriller until you get to the end, and you will be a little suspicious of everyone around you including your S.O. afterward. If you liked The Woman in Cabin 10, this is for you. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. We passed this along to all of our friends who love good fiction. The author’s second book, The Breakdown, actually just came out and we are starting it now. Keep you posted on that one, but it’s just as good so far.

When Life Gives You Lululemons

Don’t let the title on this one fool you. It’s not necessarily about a bunch of Basic B’s running around wearing lululemons. Remember Emily Charlton, Miranda’s badass assistant from the Devil Wears Prada? This story follow Emily after she’s left the corporate world and taken on a hot husband and big-name clients of her own. In particular, she helps her friend who is also a former model and wife to a senator-wannabe president take down her husband who completely betrays her and uses his power to get ahead. Nothing like a good revenge story 😉

Crazy Rich Asians

You have surely heard lots of chatter about Crazy Rich Asians lately, and for good reason. A must read before you see the movie, or after if you’ve already seen it. Although it may not be completely accurate, it’s such a fun read filled with gossip, scheming and as can be expected, a love story and tons of money. It reminds of us Gossip Girl, but in Singapore instead of NYC and far more lavish if you can imagine!

The Female Persuasion

The storyline on this one was unexpected to be honest, but in a great way. What, you’ve never bought a book just because it had a pretty cover before? This is probably the least-easy read on the list which is definitely not a bad thing. The inner-college student/super new adult figuring out the world in you will connect with this one, and it is certainly relatable to many of today’s social issues.. ahem the patriarchy inparticular.

The People We Hate at The Wedding

How can we not? Judging weddings is just too easy, and particularly fun coming from the two main characters in this book who are attending their half-sisters perfect wedding in London. We all have love hate relationships with certain members of our family. Maybe they stem from jealously or different life views, but nonetheless the story here is relatable and funny!
